Siena & San gimignano, italy - DAY 4 - March 9, 2023
Had another great breakfast at the Villa and then a 1 hour bus ride to Siena. The first church that we saw this morning was the San Domenico Church in Siena. We were not allowed to take photos inside. It contains the relics of Saint Catherine of Siena.
The town of Siena is very beautiful; full of very tiny streets and many hills - a lot of hard walking. The town is known for a horse race, the Palio de Siena that they run around town square twice a year in July and August - it seems like a crazy event!
We left Siena and had lunch at a farmhouse in the countryside in Tuscany - Fattoria San Donato. It was an excellent lunch and enjoyed talking to more of the people on the tour.
After lunch we traveled to the midevil town of San Gimignano - the town of towers. This is a very cool town with a very intact city walls, tons of different towers and the world’s greatedt Gelato shop.
We returned to the Villa to pack and have dinner - tomorrow we will head to the coast and embark on our cruise.
