Miltenburg, Germany - Day 7 - july 13, 2019
During the night we left the Rhine and headed up the Main river. The Main is much narrower and quieter than the Rhine. We had a late port call in Miltenburg this morning, due to the distances needed to sail. We went on a tour of this classically small German village complete with the half-timbered houses and narrow streets. We went to the Faust Beer Garden and sampled some of their “Black Quarter” beer. The Black Quarter is so named because the sun never shines there due to the steepness of the mountains around the town. The Hotel Zum Riesen is one of the oldest hotels in all of Germany dating back to at least 1411.
