Delphi, greece - DaY 22 - March 27, 2023

Our last day on the trip and we are feeling a bit traveled out! Today we are going to take a very long drive to Delphi, about 2.5 hours each way! On out way out of Athens this morning we stopped at the “new” Olympic Stadium for a quick look. Athens hosted the Summer Olympics in 2004.

The Ancient Greeks considered the Omphalos or “Navel” at Delphi to be the center of the earth and traveled to Delphi for advice from the Oracle between about 1400 to 800 BCE. The ruins of Delphi are perched on the side of a hill with a beautiful view and are visited by many. Some of the more famous pieces found in the museum are the Charioteer of Delphi and the Sphinx of Naxos. They are still uncovering things at Delphi and every few years seem to find a new amazing discovery. We were once again very happy that we were there in March and not the summer (both due to the heat and the crowds!)
