Bamburg, germany - day 9 - july 15, 2019
We had another late port call in Bamburg, Germany. The entire town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was not bombed during World War II and is an excellent example of a Bavarian Village. The larger structures include the Bamburg Catherdral, the Michaelsberg Abby, and a famous Rathaus (City Hall) in the middle of the river. The City Hall is on an artifical island in the middle of the river because the emperor would not grant the town any land for the city hall, so the townspeople built and island and a city hall! It is also known for its famous Rauschbier (Smoked Beer) - this beer is an acquired taste, but is one of my favorites and I could not wait to have a pint standing on the road in front of the brewery!
