passau, germany - day 12, july 18, 2019

We had an early morning visit to Passau, Germany. This will be our last stop in Germany as Passau sits on the German/Austrian border. Passau sits on the confluence of the Ilz River and the Danube. The Ilz comes out of the heart of the Bavarian Forests and often runs black due to the rich soil found there. We went to a pipe organ concert in St. Stephan’s Cathedral. The organ is the second largest in the world (the largest is in Los Angeles); it has 17,774 pipes and 233 registers! We had a little time after the concert and stayed in town to enjoy some beers and sausages for lunch. We did some people watching at a beautiful little cafe along the Danube.
